Make The Lake is Back...Fri 20th/Sat 21st June 2025!

A Future Vision?
Over the years there has been much discussion and even meetings with various agencies about how the lake is utilised, what is working, what isn't, what is important about Lake Hawthorn and how are we going to look after it in the years to come?
It hosts important birdlife and potentially endangered fish along with turtles and many other species but with houses looming on our doorstep we need to start planning harder and faster than ever before a lot of damage is done. Damage could come in the way of development which isn't the kind of development that would be ideal for a wetland area and so here is an option that our committee has developed and with help from Aspire Architecture they have helped us create a visual example.
The concept is just that - a concept only.....so don't get too excited or upset! This is a conversation starter and we have actively over the past couple of years presented this to numerous agencies and organisations in Mildura - yes including MRCC, MCMA and others but they're not convinced.......what are your thoughts?
Concept Outline
Science worx meets Mungo - A space where regional scientific discoveries can be studied, environmental issues can be explained, research undertaken, and using our natural landscape as a living example, we can then share those learnings with locals and visitors of all ages.
Please note: This is only conceptual thinking by one person and is being used as an example only of what might be possible if we open discussions and work together.
